DESCRIPTION:Finance For Councillors:  Part 2 of a three part learning module developed for Pro-pathways for Councillors, our professional development programme. \nSession 2 – Budget and Precept Setting for Councillors \nAn overview of the current guidance and ideas about the key principles and strategies about setting a budget in uncertain times.\n Suitable Audience \nThis session is aimed at Councillors who want to make sense of the budget process.  \n Benefits\nBy the end of the Budget and Precept Setting for Councillors session, you will:\n\nHave an understanding of the legal framework around parish council budgets\nHave an understanding of the difference between parish budgets and those of companies\nKnow how to make budget setting a positive forward planning process \nKnow how to get the message across to electors about what the council does with the money\nKnow hints, tips and ideas from other councils who got it right (and wrong!)\nKnow how to make best use of the proprietary software packages if used\n\nCourse Tutor: \nEleanor Greene ICPA is a senior accountant at Do The Numbers Ltd has been auditing Parish Councils since 1997. Eleanor was the Company Secretary of Hampshire ALC ten years and is now Secretary of the Hampshire SLCC branch, so keeps constantly up to date with sector developments.\nRunning time:   90 minutes approximately depending on Q&A\nRemote Access: Joining instructions will be issued closer to the time\nCancellation: A full refund will be given if 14 days or more notice prior to the date of the training course is given.
